Acupuncture is a time-tested healing practice rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine, known for its ability to relieve pain, restore energy flow, and promote whole-body balance. At Boston Massage and Bodywork, our acupuncture treatments are tailored to support your unique health goals, whether you're seeking relief from chronic discomfort, emotional stress, digestive issues, or hormonal imbalances.

Our licensed acupuncturists use ultra-fine, sterile, single-use needles to stimulate specific points on the body that encourage healing and restore energetic harmony.

How Does Acupuncture Work?

According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, acupuncture works by unblocking and balancing the flow of qi (energy) through meridians in the body. From a modern perspective, it’s understood to stimulate the nervous system, improve circulation, and promote the release of natural painkillers and anti-inflammatory agents.

Sessions are therapeutic and deeply relaxing. Many clients describe a sense of calm and clarity following treatment, even when coming in with physical symptoms.

Types of Acupuncture

  • Trigger point acupuncture (dry needling)
  • Electro acupuncture (needles with electrical stimulation)
  • Sa’am acupuncture (4 needle technique)
  • Japanese style acupuncture (finer needles with shallow insertion)

Conditions Acupuncture Can Support

Acupuncture is commonly used to treat:

  • Chronic and acute pain (back, neck, joints, headaches)
  • Stress, anxiety, and insomnia
  • Digestive issues and bloating (including IBS, abdominal pain)
  • Menstrual or fertility concerns
  • Low energy or fatigue
  • TMJD

Each treatment begins with a thorough intake so we can understand your symptoms, patterns, and lifestyle. From there, we build a personalized plan designed to support both symptom relief and long-term balance. Every case is unique, however an average treatment plan is 4-6 sessions with a re-evaluation.
